P0113 means the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor is reporting a temperature higher than the ECM considers plausible given current conditions. The IAT sensor is often integrated into the Mass Airflow (MAF) sensor housing or located in the air intake tube. It provides data the ECM uses to adjust fuel delivery — hot air is less dense and requires less fuel; cold air is denser and needs more fuel. When the sensor reads excessively high (usually above 250°F when ambient is much cooler), the ECM may reduce fuel delivery inappropriately, causing lean running and reduced performance. Common causes include a failed sensor element, damaged wiring, or a poor ground connection that sends a maximum voltage signal to the ECM.
